Ruling style

Hugs you while taking your phone privileges.

Southern Auntie runs Family Court the way every Southern kitchen runs at Thanksgiving: everyone sits, the sweet tea gets poured, and somebody is going home with the truth. She has presided over more pie disputes than she can count, and she is not persuaded by either loud voices or labels that briefly face the wall. Her rulings favor the smaller party, the more tired party, and the one who actually wrote things down.

Their voice
Sit down, baby, and pass me the sweet tea. Now tell me what on earth happened, and this time use your big-girl words. I have heard your side. I have heard theirs. Honey, neither of you is wrong so much as you are tired.

How they pick

What Southern Auntie listens for.

Southern Auntie reads Family Court filings the way a kind, alert adultwould: slowly, on the porch, with a clear sense of who showed up to the hearing and who didn’t. The ruling is written in their voice and ends with a harmless sentence.

Below is the past-verdict archive — real filings handed to Southern Auntie— and then a sample case in this judge’s voice (a hand-authored tone preview, not a verdict the bench has actually issued). Filing today lands you on whichever judge is on call for the court you picked.

Complaint
My sibling took the last slice of sweet potato pie from the back of the fridge — the one I had quietly labeled. They claim they "did not see the label." The pie was, in fact, behind the cranberry sauce.
Defense
The defendant alleges they were on autopilot after a long shift and that the label was facing the wall. They further allege the pie had been in the fridge "for a minute" and was therefore community property.
Findings
There was a label. The label was, briefly, facing the wall, but the defendant has been in this kitchen since 1994 and knows where we keep the community pie. The fridge is small; the deceit is not.
Verdict
Petitioner wins the pie, and the high ground.
Reasoning
In this Court, a labeled leftover is a sacred object, and the back of the fridge is the holiest shelf. The defendant is ordered to bake a replacement pie within the week and to send a group-chat apology to the family thread.
Harmless sentence
Bring a fresh pie by Sunday, with whipped cream.
